Commentary on the Koran: Surah 75 “The Resurrection”

Pickthall Translation with Bible Quotes from the English Standard Version unless otherwise noted.

Introduction

Al-Qiyamah takes its name from the reference to the Resurrection in verse 1. It is an early Beccan Surah placed here to follow the initial warning to the Arabs in the preceding Surah.

The texts here from verses 1-4 refer to the texts in Ezekiel and also to Job and Isaiah regarding the physical aspect which is to occur to mankind on the Resurrections, both the First and Second Resurrection, to which all men are allocated for their judgment and reward or correction.

The worshippers of the Sun and Mystery cults at Becca worshipping Hubal or “The Lord” held that when they died they went to heaven, as did the worshippers of Baal who met on Sundays, kept Christmas and Easter and penetrated Christianity in Rome from the worship of the god Attis (see the paper Origins of Christmas and Easter (No. 235)).

Anyone who says that when they die they go to heaven is not a follower of the faith of Christ and the Apostles and Prophets but are all worshippers of the Sun Cults and Baal or Hubal. These same infidels control Mecca and Rome and pseudo Islam and Christianity to this day.

*****

75.1. Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection;

75.2. Nay, I swear by the accusing soul (that this Scripture is true).

75.3. Thinketh man that We shall not assemble his bones?

75.4. Yea, verily. We are Able to restore his very fingers!

See Ezekiel 37:4-6 in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 64 (No.Q064) at ayat 7 and also refer to John 5:28-29 in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 21 (No. Q021) at ayat 21.47 and Job 34:14-15 in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 42 (No. Q042) at ayat 29.

Acts 17:31  inasmuch as he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by the man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead. (ERV)

75.5. But man would fain deny what is before him.

Luke chapter 24 verses 1 to 10 state that the women found an empty tomb and were informed by the  angels that Christ had been resurrected. He was the Firstborn from the dead and with which we will be coheirs in our inheritance from the One True God Eloah as Ha Elohim.

Luke 24:6-7 He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, 7that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.

Acts 1:3 He presented himself alive to them after his suffering by many proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God.

Acts 26:8 Why is it thought incredible by any of you that God raises the dead?

Refer to Hebrews 9:27 at ayat 18 and 2Corinthians 5:10 at ayat 36 in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 17 (No. Q017).

The empty tomb was the evidence that Christ had been raised from the dead. Many saw him during those forty days so providing convincing evidence of his resurrection. It happened in the past and soon the resurrection of the dead will confront the disbelievers. So it is a certainty that all men will die once and will be raised again to face judgment (cf. the papers Timing of the Crucifixion and the Resurrection (No. 159) and Forty Days Following Christ’s Resurrection  (No. 159A)).

75.6. He asketh: When will be this Day of Resurrection?

Refer to Habakkuk 2:3 in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 18 (No. Q018) at ayat 82; 2Peter 3:9 in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 20 (No. Q020) at ayat 129 and 1Thessalonians 4:16-17 in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 27 (No. Q027) at ayat 87.

2Peter 3:4 They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.”

The First Resurrection occurs at the return of Christ when the elect are raised to eternal life. The rest of humanity will have to wait another 1,000 years when they are raised in the Second Resurrection. Read Revelation chapter 20 for more of the story.

75.7. But when sight is confounded

75.8. And the moon is eclipsed

75.9. And sun and moon are united,

The events highlighted by the above ayats will soon be upon us. The following verses provide more details.

Matthew 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

Isaiah 13:10 For the stars of the heavens and their constellations will not give their light; the sun will be dark at its rising, and the moon will not shed its light.

Joel 3:15 The sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars withdraw their shining.

Luke 21:25-26 And there shall be signs in sun and moon and stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, in perplexity for the roaring of the sea and the billows; 26men fainting for fear, and for expectation of the things which are coming on the world: for the powers of the heavens shall be shaken. (ERV)

75.10. On that day man will cry: Whither to flee!

75.11. Alas! No refuge!

75.12. Unto thy Lord is the recourse that day.

Proverbs 11:21 Though hand join in hand, the evil man shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered. (ERV)

Proverbs 16:5 Everyone who is arrogant in heart is an abomination to the LORD; be assured, he will not go unpunished.

Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Psalm 62:7 On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God.

75.13. On that day man is told the tale of that which he hath sent before and left behind.

1Timothy 5:24 The sins of some men are quite evident, going before them to judgment; for others, their sins follow after. (NASB)

James 4:17 So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.

2Peter 2:21 For it would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than after knowing it to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them.

Mark 4:22 For everything that is hidden will eventually be brought into the open, and every secret will be brought to light. (NLT)

Luke 8:17 For nothing is hidden that will not be made manifest, nor is anything secret that will not be known and come to light.

Refer to Revelation 20:12 as quoted in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 17 (No. Q017) at ayat 15.

75.14. Oh, but man is a telling witness against himself,

75.15. Although he tender his excuses.

75.16. Stir not thy tongue herewith to hasten it.

75.17. Lo! upon Us (resteth) the putting together thereof and the reading thereof.

75.18. And when We read it, follow thou the reading;

75.19. Then lo! upon Us (resteth) the explanation thereof.

See Jeremiah 16:19 in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 53 (No. Q053) at ayat 28.

John 8:9 But when they heard it, they went away one by one, beginning with the older ones, and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him.

Job 19:23 Oh that my words were written! Oh that they were inscribed in a book!

Psalm 56:8 You have kept count of my tossings; put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book?

Also Revelation 20:12 as above at ayat 13.

The mind of man can remember many events in his life but God knows all things that ever happened in the life of all His created beings. When all the records are laid out before the unrighteous they will surely witness against themselves that they were wrong doers. They will all be reeducated and have all things explained to them during the Second Resurrection.

75.20. Nay, but ye do love the fleeting Now

75.21. And neglect the Hereafter.

Ephesians 2:2-3 in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. 3Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. (NASB)

2Corinthians 4:18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

Refer to 1John 2:16 in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 18 (No. Q018) at ayat 8.

75.22. That day will faces be resplendent,

75.23. Looking toward their Lord;

These are they who have lived their lives in compliance with the commandments and statutes of God and have attained eternal life and the First Resurrection.

Revelation 14:12 Here is a call for the endurance of the saints, those who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus.

See Revelation 12:17 in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 60 (No. Q060) at ayat 2 and
Revelation 20:6 in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 18 (No. Q018) at ayat 31.

75.24. And that day will other faces be despondent,

75.25. Thou wilt know that some great disaster is about to fall on them.

75.26. Nay, but when the life cometh up to the throat

75.27. And men say: Where is the wizard (who can save him now)?

75.28. And he knoweth that it is the parting;

75.29. And agony is heaped on agony;

75.30. Unto thy Lord that day will be the driving.

75.31. For he neither trusted, nor prayed.

75.32. But he denied and flouted.

75.33. Then went he to his folk with glee.

75.34. Nearer unto thee and nearer

75.35. Again nearer unto thee and nearer (is the doom).

75.36. Thinketh man that he is to be left aimless.

Refer to Hebrews 9:27 in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 17 (No. Q017) at ayat 18; Daniel 12:2 in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 24 (No. Q024) at ayat 42 and Ecclesiastes 12:7 in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 30 (No. Q030) at ayat 11.

See also Revelation 20:11-15. These verses are referred to in many previous Surahs. This whole chapter should be understood as it is a common or recurrent theme throughout the Koran.

Psalm 49:7 No man can by any means redeem his brother Or give to God a ransom for him.

Philippians 3:19 Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things.

Romans 1:28-32 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. 29They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, 30slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.

1Corinthians 15:22-23 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. 23But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ. Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power.

See Isaiah 26:19 at ayat 19.71 Commentary on the Koran: Surah 19 (No. Q019).

All humans of the line of Adam will be raised, each in their order according to His purpose. The First Resurrection for the saints occurs at the coming of Christ and the Second Resurrection a thousand years later. Those in the Second Resurrection will undergo reeducation and training to lead them to repentance. Those who fail that process will be cremated in the lake of fire.

75.37. Was he not a drop of fluid which gushed forth?

75.38. Then he became a clot; then (Allah) shaped and fashioned

75.39. And made of him a pair, the male and female.

Job 10:8-12 'Your hands fashioned and made me altogether, And would You destroy me? 9Remember now, that You have made me as clay; And would You turn me into dust again? 10'Did You not pour me out like milk And curdle me like cheese; 11Clothe me with skin and flesh, And knit me together with bones and sinews? 12'You have granted me life and lovingkindness; And Your care has preserved my spirit. (NASB)

Psalm 139:13-16 For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother's womb. 14I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well. 15My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth; 16Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them.  (NASB)

Ecclesiastes 11:5 Just as you do not know the path of the wind and how bones are formed in the womb of the pregnant woman, so you do not know the activity of God who makes all things. (NASB)

Genesis 5:2 Male and female he created them, and he blessed them and named them Man when they were created.

Matthew 19:4 He answered, “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female.

75.40. Is not He (Who doeth so) Able to bring the dead to life?

See Ezekiel 37:4-6 in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 64 (No. Q064) at ayat 7; Isaiah 26:19 in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 19 (No. Q019) at ayat 71; Daniel 12:2 in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 24 (No. Q024) at ayat 42 and Deuteronomy 32:39 in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 30 (No. Q030) at ayat 40.

1Samuel 2:6 The LORD kills and brings to life; he brings down to Sheol and raises up.

The Surah has 40 ayats which refer to the sequence of Judgment and probation and the time allocated for repentance. There were forty years allocated to Judah from Messiah to the day the Roman Army surrounded Jerusalem in 1 Abib 70 CE and it was destroyed under the Sign of Jonah and the History of the Reconstruction of the Temple (No. 013) and the World was allocated 40 jubilees to 2027 under the same Sign.

The Arabs have less than seven years to repent or they will be destroyed and consigned to the Second Resurrection. Only those that do repent will go into the Millennium. You are all warned again.
