Dear Friends,

This week Prime Minister Julia Gillard announced that Australia has agreed to host a full US Marine task force in the coming years. At a news conference with US President Barack Obama in Canberra she said about 250 US Marines would arrive next year, eventually being built up to 2,500 personnel.

The deployment is being seen by commentators as a move to counter China's growing influence although there were not many who gave the idea much credence even a few days before it was announced.

Mr Obama said the US was "stepping up its commitment to the entire Asia-Pacific." That did not exclude China. "The main message that I've said, not only publicly but also privately to China, is that with their rise comes increased responsibility," he said. "It is important for them to play by the rules of the road."

Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Liu Weimin questioned whether the move was in keeping with the region's peaceful development. "It may not be quite appropriate to intensify and expand military alliances and may not be in the interest of countries within this region," he was quoted as saying by AFP news agency.

The Global Times, a newspaper produced by the Communist Party-controlled People's Daily group, has been much more bellicose, says the BBC's Damian Grammaticas in Beijing.
An editorial warned it was "certain" that if "Australia uses its military bases to help the US harm Chinese interests, then Australia itself will be caught in the crossfire". It warned “Gillard may be ignoring something - their economic cooperation with China does not pose any threat to the US, whereas the Australia-US military alliance serves to counter China.”

Luo Yuan, a senior officer at the People's Liberation Army's Academy of Military Sciences told the paper that while neither the US nor China wanted to start a war, "if China's core interests such as its sovereignty, national security and unity are intruded on, a military conflict will be unavoidable".

Why was the announcement made now? It immediately followed the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation  (APEC) forum held at Honolulu from where President Obama flew on to Australia. It coincides with the 60th anniversary of the 60 security alliance of the ANZUS pact.

Ms Gillard said about 250 Marines would be deployed on a rotational basis in northern Australia from next year.

"Australia will welcome deployments of a company-size rotation of 200 to 250 Marines in the Northern Territory for around six months at a time," she said.

"Over a number of years we intend to build on this relationship in a staged way to a full force of around 2,500 personnel, that is a full Marine air-ground task force."

Personnel will begin to arrive from 1 July 2012; and will most likely be administrative support specialists initially to prepare for arrival of arms corps troops.

Analysts said the deployment is the biggest in Australia since World War II. Mr Obama said the deployment would allow the US to "meet the demands of a lot of partners in the region" in terms of training, exercises and "security architecture".

President Obama flew on to a commemoration at the Darwin memorial for US and Australian War Dead and then on to meet with ASEAN leaders in Bali.

The announcement was not seen as something that would upset others of the Asia Pacific Community and indeed was stated as being part of the security of the region. So if we might get to 2500 troops in four or five years why would China whine, and so what does it matter? The US already uses Australian Northern ranges for air, land and sea training and has done so for the last 20 years or so.

The answer is that it makes a difference because China has advance intelligence from its blatant espionage war against everyone it sees as being of interest to its economic hegemony over the world.

Why would it be involved with Muslim alliances? It has a large Muslim populace which it has to keep under control. China especially tends to avoid taking sides in the UN and generally votes against any form of external interference in the domestic affairs of States.

China is also a creature of, or trapped by, its alliances. It is an ally of Pakistan and has been for many years. The Sino-Pakistan alliance was to contain India and provide a screen with countries on its western border. Its agreement with Russia and the old Soviet pact and block that was just reformed in the Central Russian states makes it a creature of convenience there as well. Pakistan is a major nuclear power that has feet of clay and is in bed with the Taliban. It could well present a security problem that causes the West to deal with them. It is against this scenario we should view India also. The recent announcement to sell India Australian Yellow cake is tempting to be viewed as a simple economic decision being all about trade and economics. India is much larger than Pakistan and Iran and of far greater trading significance to Australia. Perhaps, but the strategic implications are significant.

Iran is also pursuing nuclear technology as the whole world knows, and which fact most nations have known for years. It will have a nuke soon if it has not already got one. Remember there were 97 soviet suitcase nukes that went up a hollow log over 15 years ago. It is highly likely that they are strategically located, being sold to the highest bidder and most of those in the Middle East.

Singapore is another candidate and if they have not got a number of nukes already they will probably have one by the end of the year. Their cooperative agreement with Israel is another factor. They and Israel had an agreement with South Africa in the production of a nuclear missile delivery system. When apartheid ended the agreement simply went inactive, as far as the delivery system was concerned. Israel has 300 nukes.

Singapore sees itself as isolated and has over one third of its fighter force offshore for security purposes and does its training overseas due to air space limitations on Singapore as an international transport hub.

The Arab Spring has destabilised the Middle East. At present no one knows exactly where it is all headed.
Will the Islamists seize power in North Africa and the Middle East? What will trigger a conflict?  Will Israel stand idly by while Iran calls for its genocide as a people and arms the groups dedicated to its elimination.

What will NATO do? Very senior analysts hold the view that NATO is a redundant institution in search of a reason for being in the post cold war era.  Any scrap anywhere that could be linked to any one of the NATO partners will do! The cost of keeping this animal alive is a 21st century absurdity. While NATO ministers are busily scheming up ways to sustain their jobs, their economies are virtually all bankrupt and in recession. They would love a good scrap to stimulate economic growth but are blind to the waste that warfare inevitably causes.

That is the weakness of their system and the stupidity of the European Union. Greece is in turmoil. The fact is that they can’t be trusted and they lied their way into the EU and they will help to bring it down. They have no concept of ethics and national responsibility. They never pay their taxes and they sunk their economy with lies and fraud and they import the same mindset wherever they go.

Italy is in serious trouble and has just announced they will take on the Mafiosa. Berlusconi has left a “mess.” Now some bureaucrats will sort it out and hand over to the banks that sunk them. The Italians should have cleaned it all up 150 years ago. I don’t think Berlusconi managed it all on his own. He was too busy elsewhere.  You get the government you deserve and Europe is about to get its government that will see the end of the European system.

The coming financial collapse in Europe is deliberate and the bankers are behind it and they are still raping the tax payers. In this coming moment of crisis the watchers on the sidelines are simply waiting to pick up the pieces and benefit from this meltdown.

We have not seen the end in Syria either and the groundswell of the populace will continue.

The chaos in Europe will give rise to the Islamist uprising and the actions of the Islamist states will produce the conflict that will force NATO occupation of the Middle East (Dan 11:40-43). In search of a relevance it now lacks it will be forced to act by the long term plans of the demons and by the prophecy of God. Scripture cannot be broken (Jn. 10:34-36). The NATO forces will come into the Middle East and take control of Egypt and its forces and finances and control the Libyans and also down into the Horn of Africa. These forces are being redeployed now and the draw down from Iraq will facilitate the redeployment.

News from the East and the North will alarm the King of the North and he will go out with great fury to exterminate and utterly destroy many (Dan. 11:44).

This is the culmination of the Great War that commenced in 2001 and will continue on now until the coming of the Messiah.

When this phase of the war is commenced he will occupy the Holy Land from the Mediterranean at Gaza into and including Jerusalem. It is there that the world power will come to his end with none to help him (Dan. 11:45). Why will there be none to help him? The answer is that he will have destroyed so much and so many powers that none will wish to help him. However, there are still powers left and one of these is that group known as the Kings of the East which are part of this block being set up now but are only the survivors of it.  It too sees this last war and the dreadful consequences of it.

All of these powers have to be brought down to Megiddo and destroyed. Of that Scripture is quite clear.

How all this occurs and what happens will be dealt with soon in papers WWIII Part III: Commencement of Hostilities (No. 299C_1) and WWIII Part III: The Sequence of the Wars of the End (No. 299C_2).  The sequence of all the papers in the series is important to this understanding, as is the Advent of Messiah: Part I (No. 210A).
