Commentary on the Koran: Surah 35 “The Angels”

Pickthall Translation; English Standard Version used unless otherwise noted.

Introduction

Surah 35 Al Mala’ikah The Angels is also called Al Fatir The Creator from a word in verse 1.  The text refers to the creation of the Angelic Host.  One of the few transcription errors in the Koran occurs here in verse 1. The angels refer to those of two, three and four winged angels.  The fact is that the creation of the Angelic Host was as the elohim; as two winged and four winged angels and the Morning Stars as Seraphim or six winged angels. The original text was most likely “having wings two and two x three and four”.

It is surprising that the error was not realised long ago. The idea of a three winged flying being is ridiculous. The distinction is Allah’s to multiply in creation what He will. This refers to the initial creation in Job 38:4-7 where all the sons of God were gathered together under their Morning Stars at the initial creation of the earth.  The Seraphim are the six winged teaching heads of the Angelic Host. Also the Cherubim are six winged creatures that surround the throne of God.  Messiah was to become the Morning Star or the Al Tarikh as head of the entire Host from his sacrifice as we see in the Surah 86 “Al Tarikh” “The Morning Star” below.

35.1. Praise be to Allah, the Creator of the heavens and the earth, Who appointeth the angels messengers having wings two, three and four. He multiplieth in creation what He will. Lo! Allah is Able to do all things.

Psalm 145:3 Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable.

Psalm 103:21 Bless the LORD, all his hosts, his ministers, who do his will!

Psalm 146:6 Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God,

Hebrews 1:7 Of the angels he says, "He makes his angels winds, and his ministers a flame of fire."

Ezekiel 1:11 Such were their faces. And their wings were spread out above. Each creature had two wings, each of which touched the wing of another, while two covered their bodies.

Ezekiel 1:23 And under the expanse their wings were stretched out straight, one toward another. And each creature had two wings covering its body.

Isaiah 6:2 Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew.

Revelation 4:8 And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and within, and day and night they never cease to say, "Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!"

Matthew 19:26 But Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

Refer to Jeremiah 32:17 at ayat 30.8 Commentary on the Koran: Surah 30 (No. Q030).

35.2. That which Allah openeth unto mankind of mercy none can withhold it; and that which He withholdeth none can release thereafter. He is the Mighty, the Wise.

See Romans 9:15 at ayat 30.37 Commentary on the Koran: Surah 30 (No. Q030).

Romans 9:18 So then he has mercy on whomever he wills, and he hardens whomever he wills.

Romans 16:27 to the only wise God be glory forevermore through Jesus Christ! Amen.

Psalm 91:1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.

Revelation 16:7 And I heard the altar saying, "Yes, Lord God the Almighty, true and just are your judgments!"

35.3. O mankind! Remember Allah's grace toward you! Is there any creator other than Allah who provideth for you from the sky and the earth? There is no God save Him. Whither then are ye turned?

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Refer to Philippians 4:19 and 2Corinthians 9:8 at ayat 28.57 Commentary on the Koran: Surah 28 (No. Q028). Also refer to Isaiah 46:9-10 at ayat 29.01 Commentary on the Koran: Surah 29 (No.Q029).

35.4. And if they deny thee, (O Muhammad), messengers (of Allah) were denied before thee. Unto Allah all things are brought back.

Refer to 2Chronicles 36:16 at ayat 30.10 and  Ecclesiastes 12:7  at ayat 30.11 Commentary on the Koran: Surah 30 (No. Q030). Also Luke 16:31 at ayat 29.48 Commentary on the Koran: Surah 29 (No.Q029).

Job 34:14-15 If he should set his heart to it and gather to himself his spirit and his breath, 15all flesh would perish together, and man would return to dust.

The denial and killing of the prophets is a constant theme of mankind. His mercy endures forever.

35.5. O mankind! Lo! the promise of Allah is true. So let not the life of the world beguile you, and let not the (avowed) beguiler beguile you with regard to Allah.

Joshua 21:43-45 Thus the LORD gave to Israel all the land that he swore to give to their fathers. And they took possession of it, and they settled there. 44And the LORD gave them rest on every side just as he had sworn to their fathers. Not one of all their enemies had withstood them, for the LORD had given all their enemies into their hands. 45Not one word of all the good promises that the LORD had made to the house of Israel had failed; all came to pass.

Joshua 23:14 And now I am about to go the way of all the earth, and you know in your hearts and souls, all of you, that not one word has failed of all the good things that the LORD your God promised concerning you. All have come to pass for you; not one of them has failed.

Psalm 145:17 The LORD is righteous in all his ways and kind in all his works.

1Corinthians 3:18 Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise.

Luke 21:8 And he said, "See that you are not led astray. For many will come in my name, saying, 'I am he!' and, 'The time is at hand!' Do not go after them.

2Corinthians 2:11 so that we would not be outwitted by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his designs.

35.6. Lo! the devil is an enemy for you, so treat him as an enemy. He only summoneth his faction to be owners of the flaming Fire.

The spirits of the fallen Host are taken from them and used to fuel the Lake of Fire and they are reborn and given a new spirit from the Second Resurrection.

1Peter 5:8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Revelation 20:10 and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

The devil here is the spirit of the adversary.

Read Revelation 20:15 as quoted at ayat 17.15 in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 17 (No. Q017).

35.7. Those who disbelieve, theirs will be an awful doom; and those who believe and do good works, theirs will be forgiveness and a great reward.

Mark 16:16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

John 3:36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.

Acts 2:38 And Peter said to them, "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Refer to Matthew 25:34 at ayat 30.15 and Matthew 25:41 at ayat 30.16 Commentary on the Koran: Surah 30 (No. Q030).

The believers who obey and keep the Commandments of God, and the Faith and Testimony of Messiah will attain eternal life in the First Resurrection. The others are sent to the Second Resurrection to undergo intensive corrective training to allow them to come to repentance. If they do not repent during the 100 years allocated for repentance they will face the second death.

35.8. Is he, the evil of whose deeds is made fairseeming unto him so that he deemeth it good, (other than Satan's dupe)? Allah verily sendeth whom He will astray, and guideth whom He will; so let not thy soul expire in sighings for them. Lo! Allah is Aware of what they do!

We are unable to make people see the truth and convert them. It is God who calls, each in his time.

Proverbs 14:12  There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.

Proverbs 12:15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice.

Romans  6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Proverbs 11:19 Whoever is steadfast in righteousness will live, but he who pursues evil will die.

Psalm 37:23 The steps of a man are established by the LORD, when he delights in his way;

Proverbs 10:17  Whoever heeds instruction is on the path to life, but he who rejects reproof leads others astray.

Psalm 11:4 The LORD is in his holy temple; the LORD's throne is in heaven; his eyes see, his eyelids test the children of man.

Refer to Job 28:24 at ayat 29.08 Commentary on the Koran: Surah 29 (No.Q029).

35.9. And Allah it is Who sendeth the winds and they raise a cloud; then We lead it unto a dead land and revive therewith the earth after its death. Such is the Resurrection.

Note the explanation here. There is no Heaven or Hell; only the two Resurrections from the dead (cf. Heaven, Hell or the First Resurrection of the Dead (No. 143A) and The Second Resurrection and the Great White Throne Judgment (No. 143B)).

Psalm 135:7 He it is who makes the clouds rise at the end of the earth, who makes lightnings for the rain and brings forth the wind from his storehouses.

Refer to Isaiah 55:10 at ayat 30.19 Commentary the on Koran: Surah 30 (No. Q030).

The process of the rain watering the dead earth to bring about new life is comparable to the resurrection of the dead back to life.

35.10. Whoso desireth power (should know that) all power belongeth to Allah. Unto Him good words ascend, and the pious deed doth He exalt; but those who plot iniquities, theirs will be an awful doom; and the plotting of such (folk) will come to naught.

Psalm 62:11 Once God has spoken; twice have I heard this: that power belongs to God,

Psalm 147:5 Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure.

Job 37:23 The Almighty—we cannot find him; he is great in power; justice and abundant righteousness he will not violate.

Isaiah 55:11 so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.

Psalm 140:13 Surely the righteous shall give thanks to your name; the upright shall dwell in your presence.

Psalm 5:12 For you bless the righteous, O LORD; you cover him with favor as with a shield.

Matthew 25:46 And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.

Isaiah 8:10 Take counsel together, but it will come to nothing; speak a word, but it will not stand, for God is with us.

Refer to Job 5:12 at ayat 29.04 Commentary on the Koran: Surah 29 (No.Q029).

35.11. Allah created you from dust, then from a little fluid, then He made you pairs (the male and female). No female beareth or bringeth forth save with His knowledge. And no-one groweth old who groweth old, nor is aught lessened of his life, but it is recorded in a Book, Lo! that is easy for Allah.

Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

Psalm 139:15-16 My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. 16Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.

Job 10:9-11 'Remember now, that You have made me as clay; And would You turn me into dust again? 10'Did You not pour me out like milk And curdle me like cheese; 11Clothe me with skin and flesh, And knit me together with bones and sinews?

Jeremiah 1:5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations."

Job 14:5,16 5Since his days are determined, and the number of his months is with you, and you have appointed his limits that he cannot pass, 16look away from him and leave him alone, that he may enjoy, like a hired hand, his day.

Mark 10:27 Jesus looked at them and said, "With man it is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God.

The text refers to the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the earth.

Read Revelation 20:11-15 as quoted at ayat 17.15 in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 17 (No. Q017) and also refer to Jeremiah 32:17 at ayat 30.8 and Ecclesiastes 12:7 at ayat 30.11 Commentary on the Koran: Surah 30 (No. Q030).

35.12. And the two seas are not alike: this, fresh, sweet, good to drink, this (other) bitter, salt. And from them both ye eat fresh meat and derive the ornament that ye wear. And thou seest the ship cleaving them with its prow that ye may seek of His bounty, and that haply ye may give thanks.

James 3:11-12 Does a spring pour forth from the same opening both fresh and salt water? 12Can a fig tree, my brothers, bear olives, or a grapevine produce figs? Neither can a salt pond yield fresh water.

Leviticus 11:9 These you may eat, of all that are in the waters. Everything in the waters that has fins and scales, whether in the seas or in the rivers, you may eat.

Psalm 107:23 Some went down to the sea in ships, doing business on the great waters;

Psalm 107:31-32 Let them thank the LORD for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! 32Let them extol him in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders.

35.13. He maketh the night to pass into the day and He maketh the day to pass into the night. He hath subdued the sun and moon to service. Each runneth unto an appointed term. Such is Allah, your Lord; His is the Sovereignty; and those unto whom ye pray instead of Him own not so much as the white spot on a date-stone.

35.14. If ye pray unto them they hear not your prayer, and if they heard they could not grant it you. On the Day of Resurrection they will disown association with you. None can inform you like Him Who is Aware.

Genesis 1:14-18 And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years, 15and let them be lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth." And it was so. 16And God made the two great lights—the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night—and the stars. 17And God set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, 18to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.

Habakkuk 2:18-19 What profit is an idol when its maker has shaped it, a metal image, a teacher of lies? For its maker trusts in his own creation when he makes speechless idols! 19Woe to him who says to a wooden thing, Awake; to a silent stone, Arise! Can this teach? Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in it.

1Samuel 12:21 And do not turn aside after empty things that cannot profit or deliver, for they are empty.

Proverbs 3:6  In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

1Timothy 2:5-6 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.

Refer to Proverbs 21:30 at ayat 30.27 and  1Chronicles 29:11-12 at ayat 30.28 Commentary the on Koran: Surah 30 (No. Q030).

35.15. O mankind! Ye are the poor in your relation to Allah. And Allah! He is the Absolute, the Owner of Praise.

35.16. If He will, He can be rid of you and bring (instead of you) some new creation.

35.17. That is not a hard thing for Allah.

It was this point that was made to Moses and He said that He could make a new people from him in order to test Moses.

See Psalm 145:3 at ayat 35.1 and Job 34:14-15 at ayat 35.4 above.

Isaiah 40:15 Behold, the nations are like a drop from a bucket, and are accounted as the dust on the scales; behold, he takes up the coastlands like fine dust.

Luke 3:8 Bear fruits in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham.

Refer to Daniel 4:35 at ayat 28.88 Commentary on the Koran: Surah 28 (No. Q028).

35.18. And no burdened soul can bear another's burden, and if one heavy laden crieth for (help with) his load, naught of it will be lifted even though he (unto whom he crieth) be of kin. Thou warnest only those who fear their Lord in secret, and have established worship. He who groweth (in goodness), groweth only for himself, (he cannot by his merit redeem others). Unto Allah is the journeying.

Galatians 6:5 For each one will bear his own load.

Romans 14:12 So then each of us will give an account of himself to God.

2Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.

John 4:24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.

Hosea 6:1 Come, let us return to the LORD; for he has torn us, that he may heal us; he has struck us down, and he will bind us up.

Psalm 71:20 You who have made me see many troubles and calamities will revive me again; from the depths of the earth you will bring me up again.

Hosea 14:1 Return, O Israel, to the LORD your God, for you have stumbled because of your iniquity.

Malachi 3:7 From the days of your fathers you have turned aside from my statutes and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you, says the LORD of hosts. But you say, 'How shall we return?'

35.19. The blind man is not equal with the seer;

35.20. Nor is darkness (tantamount to) light;

35.21. Nor is the shadow equal with the sun's full heat;

35.22. Nor are the living equal with the dead. Lo! Allah maketh whom He will to hear. Thou canst not reach those who are in the graves.

God is the God of the Living and not the Dead.

Refer to 2Corinthians 4:4 at ayat 29.38 Commentary on the Koran: Surah 29 (No. Q029).

2Corinthians 6:14-15 Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? 15What accord has Christ with Belial? Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever?

Acts 26:18  to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.'

John 6:44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.

Ecclesiastes 9:5 For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing, and they have no more reward, for the memory of them is forgotten.

35.23. Thou art but a warner.

35.24. Lo! We have sent thee with the Truth, a bearer of glad tidings and a warner; and there is not a nation but a warner hath passed among them.

35.25. And if they deny thee, those before them also denied. Their messengers came unto them with clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty), and with the Psalms and the Scripture giving light.

35.26. Then seized I those who disbelieved, and how intense was My abhorrence!

Surah 16:36 And verily We have raised in every nation a messenger, (proclaiming): Serve Allah and shun false gods. Then some of them (there were) whom Allah guided, and some of them (there were) upon whom error had just hold. Do but travel in the land and see the nature of the consequence for the deniers!

It seems that every messenger is not honored in his community and among his relatives and in his own household as stated in Mark 6:4, but he is mocked and his message denied even though he comes with clear proofs of the sovereignty of the True God. The deniers are always meted out the punishment the messenger warned them about.

Refer to 2Chronicles 36:16 at ayat 30.10 Commentary on the Koran: Surah 30 (No. Q030).

Nehemiah 9:26 Nevertheless, they were disobedient and rebelled against you and cast your law behind their back and killed your prophets, who had warned them in order to turn them back to you, and they committed great blasphemies.

35.27. Hast thou not seen that Allah causeth water to fall from the sky, and We produce therewith fruit of divers hues; and among the hills are streaks white and red, of divers hues, and (others) raven-black;

35.28. And of men and beasts and cattle, in like manner, divers hues? The erudite among His bondmen fear Allah alone. Lo! Allah is Mighty, Forgiving.

Refer to Isaiah 55:10 at ayat 30.19 and Psalm 104:14 at ayat 30.49 Commentary on the Koran: Surah 30 (No. Q030).

Genesis 1:11 And God said, "Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, on the earth." And it was so.

Genesis 1:24-25 And God said, "Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds—livestock and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds." And it was so. 25And God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds and the livestock according to their kinds, and everything that creeps on the ground according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

Deuteronomy 6:13 It is the LORD your God you shall fear. Him you shall serve and by his name you shall swear.

Deuteronomy 10:12-13
And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, 13and to keep the commandments and statutes of the LORD, which I am commanding you today for your good?

Revelation 19:6 Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out, "Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns.

35.29. Lo! those who read the Scripture of Allah, and establish worship, and spend of that which We have bestowed on them secretly and openly, they look forward to imperishable gain,

35.30. That He will pay them their wages and increase them of His grace. Lo! He is Forgiving, Responsive.

See Ephesians 2:8 at ayat 35.3 and Deuteronomy 10:12 and Psalm 130:3-4 at ayat 35.28 above.

Refer to Revelation 20:6 at ayat 30.15 Commentary on the Koran: Surah 30 (No. Q030).

Revelation 14:12  Here is a call for the endurance of the saints, those who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus.

Colossians 1:12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.

35.31. As for that which We inspire in thee of the Scripture, it is the Truth confirming that which was (revealed) before it. Lo! Allah is indeed Observer, Seer of His slaves.

35.32. Then We gave the Scripture as inheritance unto those whom We elected of Our bondmen. But of them are some who wrong themselves and of them are some who are lukewarm, and of them are some who outstrip (others) through good deeds, by Allah's leave. That is the great favour!

Isaiah 8:16 Bind up the testimony; seal the teaching among my disciples.

Isaiah 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. (KJV)

The truth inspired and carried to the church in Arabia was confirmation of the Old Testament and the New Testament Scriptures. Surah 3.3-4 states:

He hath revealed unto thee (Muhammad) the Scripture with truth, confirming that which was (revealed) before it, even as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel. Aforetime, for a guidance to mankind; and hath revealed the Criterion (of right and wrong). Lo! those who disbelieve the revelations of Allah, theirs will be a heavy doom. Allah is Mighty, Able to Requite (the wrong).

Psalm 4:3 But know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself; the LORD hears when I call to him.

Colossians 1:12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: KJV)

The reference here draws on the parable of the talents. The person who buried his talent lost out as he did not make good use of what was given to him. They are classified as lukewarm which is a clear reference to Revelation chapters 2 and 3 and the Churches of God.

Scripture tells us that those who are lukewarm will be spewed of God’s mouth. The Laodicean Church is one of the Churches of God in the last days that will be consigned to the Second Resurrection. The profitable servants will get their reward.

35.33. Gardens of Eden! They enter them wearing armlets of gold and pearl and their raiment therein is silk.

35.34. And they say: Praise be to Allah Who hath put grief away from us. Lo! Our Lord is Forgiving, Bountiful,

35.35. Who, of His grace, hath installed us in the mansion of eternity, where toil toucheth us not nor can weariness affect us.

2Corinthians 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.

35.36. But as for those who disbelieve, for them is fire of hell; it taketh not complete effect upon them so that they can die, nor is its torment lightened for them. Thus We punish every ingrate.

35.37. And they cry for help there, (saying): Our Lord! Release us; we will do right, not (the wrong) that we used to do. Did not We grant you a life long enough for him who reflected to reflect therein? And the warner came unto you. Now taste (the flavour of your deeds), for evil-doers have no helper.

Read Revelation 20:11-15 as quoted at ayat 17.15 in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 17 (No. Q017).

The Second Resurrection is the period of 100 years allowed for repentance for those undergoing intensive corrective training as they have never experienced before at any time in their lives. If they do not repent they will face the second death and then be cremated in the Lake of Fire.

Revelation 21:8 But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.

In the earlier physical lives they did not believe in the truth and did what seemed good and pleasing to themselves. They did not take the time to reflect on their misdeeds, mocked the messengers of God and ill-treated them and literally turned their backs to God, so they were sent to the Second Resurrection to face the punishment and this time around they will have to learn the hard way.

Refer to 2Chronicles 36:16 at ayat 30.10 Commentary on the Koran: Surah 30 (No. Q030).

35.38. Lo! Allah is the Knower of the Unseen of the heavens and the earth. Lo! He is Aware of the secret of (men's) breasts.

Job 12:22 He uncovers the deeps out of darkness and brings deep darkness to light.

Daniel 2:22 he reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him.

1Corinthians 4:5 Therefore do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes, who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Then each one will receive his commendation from God.

35.39. He it is Who hath made you regents in the earth; so he who disbelieveth, his disbelief be on his own head. Their disbelief increaseth for the disbelievers, in their Lord's sight, naught save abhorrence. Their disbelief increaseth for the disbelievers naught save loss.

So, if you disbelieve that’s fine, it’s on your head,  but by disbelief, an expression of disbelief or distain, you add to your own distress and your own  loss.

Genesis 1:26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."

Psalm 8:6 You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet,

Ezekiel 33:8-9 If I say to the wicked, O wicked one, you shall surely die, and you do not speak to warn the wicked to turn from his way, that wicked person shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand. 9But if you warn the wicked to turn from his way, and he does not turn from his way, that person shall die in his iniquity, but you will have delivered your soul.

Ezekiel 18:4 Behold, all souls are mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is mine: the soul who sins shall die.

See Romans 6:23 at ayat 35.8 above.

35.40. Say: Have ye seen your partner-gods to whom ye pray beside Allah? Show me what they created of the earth! Or have they any portion in the heavens? Or have We given them a scripture so they act on clear proof therefrom? Nay, the evil-doers promise one another only to deceive.

Refer to Psalm 96:4-5 at ayat 30.40 Commentary on the Koran: Surah 30 (No. Q030).

Jeremiah 10:11 Thus shall you say to them: "The gods who did not make the heavens and the earth shall perish from the earth and from under the heavens."

James 2:19 You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder!

35.41. Lo! Allah graspeth the heavens and the earth that they deviate not, and if they were to deviate there is not one that could grasp them after Him. Lo! He is ever Clement, Forgiving.

Psalm 93:1 The LORD reigns; he is robed in majesty; the LORD is robed; he has put on strength as his belt. Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved.

Psalm 96:10 Say among the nations, "The LORD reigns! Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved; he will judge the peoples with equity."

Daniel 9:9 To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness, for we have rebelled against him

35.42. And they swore by Allah, their most binding oath, that if a warner came unto them they would be more tractable than any of the nations; yet, when a warner came unto them it aroused in them naught save repugnance,

35.43. (Shown in their) behaving arrogantly in the land and plotting evil; and the evil plot encloseth but the men who make it. Then, can they expect aught save the treatment of the folk of old? Thou wilt not find for Allah's way of treatment any substitute, nor wilt thou find for Allah's way of treatment aught of power to change.

35.44. Have they not travelled in the land and seen the nature of the consequence for those who were before them, and they were mightier than these in power? Allah is not such that aught in the heavens or in the earth escapeth Him. Lo! He is the Wise, the Mighty.

35.45. If Allah took mankind to task by that which they deserve, He would not leave a living creature on the surface of the earth; but He reprieveth them unto an appointed term, and when their term cometh - then verily (they will know that) Allah is ever Seer of His slaves.

Hosea 7:2 But they do not consider that I remember all their evil. Now their deeds surround them; they are before my face.

Proverbs 11:21 Be assured, an evil person will not go unpunished, but the offspring of the righteous will be delivered.

Ecclesiastes 3:17 I said in my heart, God will judge the righteous and the wicked, for there is a time for every matter and for every work.

So we are given to understand the plan of God to the Resurrections and the Great White Throne Judgment and the ultimate death of the disobedient. We all face the same system designed by God and carried out by the elect.
