Commentary on the Koran: Surah 53 The Star

Pickthall Translation, Bible Quotes are from the English Standard Version unless otherwise noted.

Introduction

The star refers to the transition of power from Satan to Christ as Morning Star in accordance with prophecy in Numbers 24:17.

**********
53.1. By the Star when it setteth,

The end of this present age is upon us and that would also signify the end of Satan as a morning star. When Christ died on the 14th Abib 30 CE the countdown started to bring the rule of Satan as morning star of this planet to a close.

Satan started on his downward trail when he rebelled and sinned. Christ will take over soon as the new morning star. Christ is the star that is referred to in Numbers that is to come out of Jacob as Israel as the leader of the planet (Num. 24:17).

Isaiah 14:12 How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star, son of Dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, you who laid the nations low!

2Peter 2:4 For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to chains of gloomy darkness to be kept until the judgment;

2Peter 1:19 And we have the prophetic word more fully confirmed, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.

53.2. Your comrade erreth not, nor is deceived;

53.3. Nor doth he speak of (his own) desire.

53.4. It is naught save an inspiration that is inspired,

Refer to 2Timothy 3:16 and 2Peter 1:21 in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 20 (No. Q020)  at ayat 6.

2Samuel 23:2 The Spirit of the LORD speaks by me; his word is on my tongue.

53.5. Which one of mighty powers hath taught him,

Now from verses 6 to 12 we see the vision given to the Prophet usually attributed to that at Mt Hira.

53.6. One vigorous; and he grew clear to view

53.7. When he was on the uppermost horizon.

53.8. Then he drew nigh and came down

53.9. Till he was (distant) two bows' length or even nearer,

53.10. And He revealed unto His slave that which He revealed.

Hebrews 1:1-2 Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, 2but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.

[This is the eon, the cosmos or environment.]

Numbers 12:6 And he said, “Hear my words: If there is a prophet among you, I the LORD make myself known to him in a vision; I speak with him in a dream.

Revelation 1:1-2 The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants the things that must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, 2who bore witness to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw.

The revelation of God comes through His angelic messengers and given to His human servants in the form of visions and dreams through the Holy Spirit. Revelation and understanding comes in portions, not all at once.

Isaiah 28:10, 13 10For it is precept upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little, there a little.

13And the word of the LORD will be to them precept upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little, there a little, that they may go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

53.11. The heart lied not (in seeing) what it saw.

53.12. Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he seeth?

This vision is then held to be followed by the second vision from verses 13-18 and the vision is often attributed by some Muslimin to be the vision of the Seven Heavens.

53.13. And verily he saw him yet another time

53.14. By the lote-tree of the utmost boundary,

53.15. Nigh unto which is the Garden of Abode.

53.16. When that which shroudeth did enshroud the lote-tree,

53.17. The eye turned not aside nor yet was overbold.

53.18. Verily he saw one of the greater revelations of his Lord.

Acts 5:32 And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.”

Revelation 1:2 who bore witness to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw.

Deuteronomy 4:2 You shall not add to the word that I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God that I command you.

Deuteronomy 12:32 Everything that I command you, you shall be careful to do. You shall not add to it or take from it.

Proverbs 30:6 Do not add to his words, lest he rebuke you and you be found a liar.

Revelation 22:18-19 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, 19and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.

Deuteronomy 5:32 You shall be careful therefore to do as the LORD your God has commanded you. You shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.

Deuteronomy 28:14 and if you do not turn aside from any of the words that I command you today, to the right hand or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

The pagan Arabs as worshippers of the gods, both Qamar the Male Moon and Shams the Female sun god, pretended that their gods were the daughters of the Sun and the Moon gods and formed a Triune system of them as Al-Lat, Al-Uzza and Manat

53.19. Have ye thought upon Al-Lat and Al-'Uzza

53.20. And Manat, the third, the other?

53.21. Are yours the males and His the females?

53.22. That indeed were an unfair division!

53.23. They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath revealed no warrant. They follow but a guess and that which (they) themselves desire. And now the guidance from their Lord hath come unto them.

53.24. Or shall man have what he coveteth?

HuBal was “The Lord” with Baal (or Bal or Bel) meaning “Lord” as their centre of worship at Mecca in the Ka’abah. But their gods were legion with many in the Ka’abah and some 360 day-gods around it.

Exodus 20:3 You shall have no other gods before me.

Job 38:7 when the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

See Matthew 22:30 in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 52 (No.Q052) at ayat 28.

Some societies prefer the male species and would rather kill their females as they are inferior in strength and easily captured by their enemies and are not able to earn as much as the males. It seems the Arabs sought to create their deities to be females but the sun was female also, yet the crescent moon of Sin or Qamar was male.

Mark 7:13 thus making void the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And many such things you do.

Titus 1:14 not devoting themselves to Jewish myths and the commands of people who turn away from the truth.

Exodus 20:17 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male servant, or his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor’s.”

James 4:2-3 You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. 3You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.

53.25. But unto Allah belongeth the after (life), and the former.

53.26. And how many angels are in the heavens whose intercession availeth naught save after Allah giveth leave to whom He chooseth and accepteth.

See Isaiah 59:16; 1Timothy 2:5 in Surah 45 at ayat 20 and Isaiah 63:5 in Surah 46 at ayat 32.

Here the doctrine of Predestination is introduced again (see Predestination (No. 296)).

53.27. Lo! it is those who disbelieve in the Hereafter who name the angels with the names of females.

53.28. And they have no knowledge thereof. They follow but a guess, and lo! a guess can never take the place of the truth.

Jeremiah 16:19 O LORD, my strength and my stronghold, my refuge in the day of trouble, to you shall the nations come from the ends of the earth and say: “Our fathers have inherited nothing but lies, worthless things in which there is no profit.

The pagans honor and serve their female deities as they follow in the traditions of their ancestors as they know nothing better. It seems that they not only admire but also worship the female body.

53.29. Then withdraw (O Muhammad) from him who fleeth from Our remembrance and desireth but the life of the world.

Revelation 18:4 Then I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you take part in her sins, lest you share in her plagues.

53.32. Those who avoid enormities of sin and abominations, save the unwilled offences - (for them) lo! thy Lord is of vast mercy. He is Best Aware of you (from the time) when He created you from the earth, and when ye were hidden in the bellies of your mothers. Therefor ascribe not purity unto yourselves. He is Best Aware of him who wardeth off (evil).

See Hebrews 10:26 in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 47 (No. Q047)  at ayat 9.
